Kate Walton Racing
Kate Walton Racing is a team operation headed by Kate herself, whose family is steeped in racing history as she is the daughter of one of Middleham's most successful trainers, Sam Hall. Following the family's racing connection, Kate ran a livery yard and trained her own horses before taking out a dual purpose license to train both Flat and National Hunt racehorses. Starting out with just four horses, Kate's success has seen the numbers increase annually.
The yard is extremely well situated in a tranquil environment on the outskirts of Middleham adjacent to the gallops which are accessed via a private track. The yard has 60 acres of turn out paddocks providing Kate with ideal facilities to revitalize and sweeten up horses.
Although predominantly known for National Hunt horses, Kate has had a winner at York and various other northern Flat tracks. One of Kate Walton Racing's biggest assets is the team of staff which Kate has built up. Individuals who have a great depth of knowledge and understanding of horses and racing combine to form a formidable team.
Kate's first Graded race winner came when Sitting Tennant won the Champion Bumper at Aintree's 2009 Grand National meeting. Having been purchased by Kate for £3,000 he was sold for £160,000 to Graham Wylie and Howard Johnson. He will be sadly missed at the yard as he was a lovely horse to be around. We wish Graham and Howard the very best of luck with him and hope he continues to be successful at such a high level.
Owners with Kate Walton Racing are encouraged to be involved as much as they wish to be and are much appreciated by Kate and her staff so a friendly welcome to the yard is guaranteed, making owning a racehorse even more enjoyable!
