November News
The month of November has seen the horses running well and bringing home some well earned prize money.
The flat season finished on a high with Embsay Crag winning over 7 Furlongs at Leicester for the Keep the Faith Partnership. This was not totally unexpected as he has consistently run well throughout the season much of the credit must go to Henry who rides him out everyday and was confident that he was well.
The winter jumpers are now back out in force and have been flying the flag the yard and running well, out of the last eight runners four have finished second.
Morgan Be returned to action in a valuable channel 4 Chase at Wetherby on the 15th November. This was his first run after having a year off and was great if not a little nerve racking to see him back at the track. Our expectations were not high as today’s aim was just to get round safely. However, given a confident and patient ride by Richie he ran a blinder to finish second. This was a great run and showed that he still retains all of his ability.
Sitting Tennant has continues to impress and proved that his previous bumper form was no means a fluke. He ran a very gallant race again to finish second in a very useful bumper at Newcastle. Although he may run in another bumper race he will also start to school over hurdles. Royal Flynn also ran on the same day but for some reason did not seem to sparkle he has returned home and seems to be fine and hopefully he may just have been having an off day.
Huka Lodge and Glapagos Islands both headed to Hexham on the 19th November. Huka ran in the 3 mile Handicap Hurdle and ran a good race to finish 4th. He seemed to be doing his best work towards the end and proved that he relishes the heavy ground and a true test of stamina. Galapagos Islands were having his first run over hurdles and for his new owner Mr. G R Orchard who we are delighted to welcome to the yard. He will come on an awful lot for his first run as he is still a big baby.
Two of the yard's flag bearers headed to Aintree on Beecher Chase day on the 23rd November where the weather was not the most pleasurable. Jimmy Bond who in the previous year had run gallantly to finish 2nd over the National Fences contested a 3 mile Handicap Chase. He raced just off the pace throughout and creped into the race steadily he ran his usual strong race to just be denied and finished second. Nevertika ran in a very competitive 2 Mile 4 Furlongs Handicap Hurdle he ran up with the leaders and as usual ran his heart out to finish second to a useful performer of Peter Bowen's. Both of these horses always seem so enthusiastic and willing.
At home all the horses seem to be doing well and thriving we will hopefully be seeing some old and new faces over the forthcoming months ahead.
On the staff front Hannah has jetted off to Mauritus for a couple of week’s holiday hopefully it will be slightly warmer there than what it has been here.
