Since the turn of the year the horses have generally been running very well and have been repaying the hard work and time put in by staff.

Morgan Be has returned from his season off in fine form and finished a very gallant second in the prestigious Eider Chase held at Newcastle Racecourse. He initially kicked off the year by winning a handicap chase at Ayr in January this success confirmed that he was back to his best and was ready to be given the chance to compete for a valuable prize. Therefore, he took his place in the line up for The Eider Chase he travelled by far the best out of any horse within the race and took up the running two fences away from the winning post. He looked the winner all the way up the run in only to be collared 10 yards from the finish by another horse to finish second. He ran an absolute cracker but to be caught so close to the line was also heartbreaking.  As he requires soft or heavy ground to show his true colours he will now have a break through the summer months but will be back and will be aimed at the staying chases next season.

On the same card as the Eider Chase Sitting Tennant eventually achieved the win which he deserved. He really has been a model of consistency throughout the year finishing second twice to very useful horses and it was a great reward for his owner who has been involved with him since he was a foal. He will now be aimed at the Aintree Bumper on Grand National day (ground depending) before pursuing a hurdle campaign.

Following his win at Wetherby in a National Hunt Flat race Stopped Out has continued to run well in bumpers finishing respectably in a listed race at Cheltenham . He has now been sent hurdling and had his first run at Kelso where he jumped well and performed with a lot of credit. He is still a young horse and will continue to mature and should hopefully prove a lot of fun for his very enthusiastic owners who are also involved with Its a Roofer and Still At Lunch who are primed for jumps action during the summer.

Huka Lodge continues to be a flag bearer for the yard and has proved in good heart during 2009 putting in very solid placed efforts at Haydock which he loves and Carlisle . As a result of his consistency the handicapper seems not to allow him any slack. The key to Huka Lodge is the ground as he loves the soft and heavy ground.

Nevertika ran a promising race at Southwell and is pleasing at home he will to continue to run over the forthcoming weeks and there are a few possible targets for him ground depending.

With the flat season just commencing we have a select team to campaign with. Royal Flynn has been our first runner at the opening meeting at Doncaster and ran with a lot of credit on ground which was too quick for him. He will be mainly run on the flat through the summer but could well run at the Cartmel Festival over hurdles in May.

Unawatuna who needs soft has strengthened up during the winter and we are looking forward to her running in long distance flat races. Embsay Crag has also thrived through the winter and will be running in the very near future with his first run possibly been at Beverley in the middle of April.

We also have two 2 yr olds which are progressing very well.

As usual Good Friday brings to Middleham Open Day where you will be able to see all our horses in the flesh. This year there will be afternoon activities on the Low Moor.
