Owning a Racehorse does not have to break the bank. There are various ownership options available so that the enjoyment and expense can be shared. Choosing the right trainer can be as hard as choosing the horse but if you want a small friendly yard , which will put you and your horse first and can achieve the results then Kate Walton Racing could be for you.
We encourage owners to be involved as little or as much as they wish, we guarantee the warmest of welcomes and always enjoy owners visiting the yard. Some of our owner's favourite moments are visiting Sharp Hill Farm in the stunning scenery and watching their horse's progress from that initial purchase to them making their debut on the racecourse.

Various Ownership Packages at Sharp Hill Farm
Sole Ownership
100% of the ownership is with 1 individual you will solely be responsible for the naming of the horse (if not already registered), selecting the racing colours, seeing your name in the paper you are the main beneficiary. If the horse goes on to be a superstar you are the individual that owns the animal. But you will also be solely responsible for the purchase price of the horse however great or small, as well as the training fees.
Co-Ownership
In racehorses this is an increasingly popular route into ownership. This is where more than one person has ownership in the horse and the costs and enjoyment are shared.
Different Types of Co-ownership
Joint Ownership
Consists of between 2 and 20 people owning one horse. The horse can run in either a joint ownership name or the name of a joint owner. This form of ownership is usually best suited to a very small group of people where each member wants to be registered as an owner in their own right.
Racing Partnership
Consists of between 2 to 20 individuals of which at least two must become nominated partners. A single racing partnership registration with Weatherbys may cover any number of horses owned by the partnership for example a group of friends or work colleagues, or it may be professionally run.
Company Ownership
Requires the company shareholders to own the horse. Various criteria need to be met in order to register a company ownership.
Business Partnership
Are available to a business which is already trading as a partnership and us registered for VAT.
Leasing
The leasing of a Racehorse involves the ownership of a racehorse for a set period of time, perhaps for 1 race or for its whole racing career.
